Using Bogofilter in Evolution
SPAM, SPAM, SPAM...
A big headache if you don't have an antispam filter. In Linux systems we have many choices. A very good choice is Bogofilter and you will see that it is too easy to set it up. If you want to use Bogofilter and SpamAssasin you can check this link from Ubuntu Forums. I prefered the fast way (a.k.a. "don't have time to spend" ).
Before you start I would advise you to mark all the spam e-mails (deleted or not) as Not Junk.
First, you must install it. Just type:
sudo apt-get install bogofilter
Then go to Evolution. Enable the Junk mail filter Edit->Preferences->Mail Preferences->Junk->Check incoming mail for junk and remote test
Click on Edit->Plugins where you must enable the Bogofilter option and disable the SpamAssasin option (if you don't want to spend more time in order to configure it...).
Then go to Inbox and mark all (not only spam but all) as Junk.
Then go to the Junk folder and mark the Not Junk e-mails. It may seem stupid but this will train Bogofilter to recognise spam.
That's it! Depending on how many e-mails you receive each day, for a few days you would better check the Junk e-mail in order to train more the Bogofilter. If you have more time then you better follow the instructions from the Ubuntu Forums.
