Mesh.com: A good competitor?
People who know me won't believe that I wrote this article. I see blue screens all the time in my lab, not to mention that in other labs we have computers that can't respond to Windows XP because they are old. I hate to be used by monopolistic companies like M$ and be forced to buy a new computer every time they release a new version of their operating system. I also hate the fact that today's students that work on Windows OS do not learn much because all they have to do is press the left or right button of the mouse. They don't understand what they are doing because of the easiness of the environment and when a small problem appears they are terrified and don't know how to react. We have learned because in Linux we have to do things and in order to do you must either already know or learn immediately. That's why I love Linux although nowadays some distros provide a too easy GUI.
Anyway, let's cut to the chase The new stable site of M$, the mesh.com is an excellent work and I believe that it will turn everything upside down. It reminds me eyeOS , G.ho.st and ajaxWindows but they work as Operating Systems. I haven't seen services like Remote Desktop and altough they provide more than M$, I as Petros do not need applications, just file storage and file synchronization.
It is a strong opponent against Google.or other competitors of M$ There were some solutions to use Google's GMail for file storage or use Goole Docs but mesh.com provides more. Because of the "mobility" of my work I am forced to carry a good USB stick with more than 1GB with files. It is the only solution if you use a PC that is not connected to Internet. But how many computers are not connected to Internet? At least the PCs I use constantly are not. Plus, the fact that my work demands Internet and if I don't have Internet then I won't process these files.
It provides 5.5 GB of space. Personally, I use it for SVN and folder synchronization. You can also use it for remote desktop but I avoid such services. It needs a lot more in order to provide drag-and-drop, massive upload, copy-paste folders in other folders etc and become easy too use looking like an Internet OS.
